Saying Goodbye To Hockey

When we first moved to Austin Reily joined the Round Rock Knights in-line hockey league. It has been a blast for the whole family and a sport Reily has come to really love. The owner of the rink has decided to close it down and fill the space with storage units. All the hockey families are sad about this and are trying to come up with a solution but nothing has worked out yet. So, with great sadness, I think it's safe to say that Reily had his LAST hockey game Sunday night.

What's really neat about the Knight's program is all the players have played on the same team with each other at least once, so there's really good sportsmanship between all the teams. There's also a really neat sense of community and friendship among all the families. Reily's first coach lost his home in a fire and watching all the hockey families come together to raise money, donate clothing and provide housing for his family was amazing. Seeing all the boys express their concern and friendship for their teammate who was involved in the horrible accident in our neighborhood last month has really impressed me. I've loved this group of people and this fun sport and I'm sad that it's ended. Reily has grown so much from his time playing hockey and I know he will take it with him into his next sport...lacrosse.

A good friend of mine just moved to Round Rock. They just graduated from the program. How many wards are there? (I'm assuming that's where you live...?)

Sad to see a sport Reily likes leave your area, but good thing he is moving right on to the next thing. I think of him alot when I am Spencer's games-he hasn't found something he's amazing at yet--he's kind of floating trying everything-which is good, but you know how crazy some people are here and they want them to specialize sooo young. It's good to hear Reily has been able to pick up Hockey at an (relatively) older age and now lacrose-not to mention the singing-good job Reily. I am proud of him!

P.S. About your Kayden comment, I don't know how I could have made it through that time if I hadn't had great friends surrounding me-especially you! Thanks for all your love and support and your willingness to talk and listen. It will always mean a great deal to me.

SAD!
There is something great that ties everyone together when you get on a great team and are able to get to know each other really well each year. There is something extra special about teams in TX! I know. I say it all the time - but it is true! How are the boys doing from the crash?
Reily looks so handsome and so grown up I can't get over it!

Oh Man Hocky is such a FUN sport to watch! I have never played though. So sorry to here you wont be playing on a team anymore but hey remember you can always come back to UTAH and visit Riley. He would go to Peaks Arena with you in a heart beat Paul use to play Hockey in High School.
anyway Reily you are a talented kid. Continue to have fun with your life I am sure you will continue to find other things you enjoy.
Love ya,
Heidi
